One of the most unique Thracian mounds is located near the town of Pomorie. It was built during the Roman era, but following the basic principles used in Thracian architecture. The tomb has a semi-cylindrical vault, in the center of which there is a hollow column with a diameter of 3.30 m. It is believed that it served as a "Heroon" (Mausoleum) of a rich Anchial family. It remains a mystery to me why they gave this name "the hollow mound". It is more appropriate to call it "the Pomorie mound". In the town of Pomorie, you can not only visit the mound and combine it with a walk, but also visit the beach and drink a beer. We wish you a pleasant walk and a unique experience in the town of Pomorie!
