Today I want to introduce you to the Dryanovo Monastery - Bulgaria It is located 5 kilometers southwest of the town of Dryanovo and 15 kilometers from the town of Gabrovo. The medieval monastery "St. Archangel Michael" was founded during the reign of Tsar Kaloyan, after the transfer of the relics of Saint Michael the Warrior from Potuka to Tarnovgrad around 1206. Over the centuries, the Dryanovo Monastery has been a center of Bulgarian education and culture. In 1393, the Turks burned it to the ground. It was rebuilt in its current location in 1845. The monastery played a major role in the preparation of the April Uprising. Now the Monastery is a tourist attraction. The incredible nature and the many tourist routes that start from here are a good base for your walk. You can spend the night in the monastery, but you should know that it is not recommended to disturb the peace and quiet of the monastery. Around Mavastira there are many interesting places that you can visit, and they are: the “Bacho Kiro” Cave, the Kolyu Ficheto Museum in the town of Dryanovo, the “Bozhentsi” Architectural and Historical Reserve. Near the Monastery there are guest houses where you can have an unforgettable party. Visit the Dryanovo Monastery and you will be enchanted. We wish you an exceptional and unforgettable experience!
